Fire Cider Slaw
Fire cider is one of my secrets for how to get through winter strong and healthy. Whenever I feel a little something coming on, I take a shot and it clears right up, and I take it preventatively when maladies are going around. While Soil Hued Mojo’s fire cider is much more palatable than my personal brew (which is super spicy and horseradish-y), there is a picky eater in my house that refuses to drink any fire cider when they are sick. So, I devised this recipe to sneak fire cider in without them knowing. ;-) It’s super yummy and a delicious, refreshing topping or side to any meal.

Ingredients
1/2 Cabbage* (I used red but you could also use green), finely sliced
2 Apples*, julienned
2 Cloves garlic*, crushed
3 tbs Fire cider*
2 tbs Olive oil
1 tbs Lime juice
2 tbs Fresh parsley, chopped or 2 tsp dried
Lots of love
1/2 tsp (or to your taste) Red pepper flakes, optional
Honey* or maple syrup*, if you like it sweeter, to your taste
Salt & pepper to your taste
*These ingredients can be found at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market
Method
Prep and chop all ingredients.
Add all ingredients to a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
Taste and adjust the seasoning and acidity to your preference.
Let sit for at least 1 hour before enjoying! It gets better the longer it sits, so I recommend letting it sit in the refrigerator overnight!
