Market FAQs

    • All vendors at the market accept cash and Market tokens, and some can process credit or debit cards directly.

    • The Market booth, located at the center of the Turner Pavilion, accepts all forms of credit, debit, and SNAP/EBT. All credit and debit transactions will be processed with a $1 convenience fee. Credit and debit tokens come in $5 and $10 increments, never expire, and spend like cash with all of our vendors.

    • We are a proud partner of Virginia Fresh Match! SNAP transactions can be processed at the Market Booth for any dollar amount and will be MATCHed up to $30. See our Services page for more information.

    • Yes! Gift certificates come in $5, $10, and $20 increments.

    • They can be purchased at the central info booth at the Market.

    • Many farmers who sell at our markets are not certified organic due to the costly nature of certification. While some adhere to chemical-free and other environmentally-friendly practices, they may choose not to undergo third-party certification. Additionally, some farmers use non-organic chemicals in their farming practices. For more information about individual farming practices, please see the vendor pages or ask questions and get to know the vendors you buy from. The ability to talk to the people who grow your food is one of the advantages of shopping at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market.

    • You can get to know the farmers who grow your food, meet the artisans who make the products you use and enjoy, connect with the land, and enjoy the freshest seasonal produce. By shopping at the Market you’re supporting sustainable farming practices and exploring a wider variety of foods while boosting our local economy!
