Watermelon ‘Za from Chef Beau Floyd

This snack is a great way to get kids involved in cooking: let them choose their favorite toppings and build their own watermelon creations! From sweet to savory, each variation offers a unique flavor profile that highlights the best of the season’s produce.

Ingredients

For the recipe Beau prepared for the Sunset Market:

  • 1 watermelon, sliced into triangles*

  • Juice and zest of one lemon

  • Red or white onion, halved or quartered and shaved*

  • Basil, chiffonade*

  • Feta or goat cheese*

Option 2:

  • Basil - chiffonade*

  • Arugula*

  • Blueberries - halved (when in season)*

  • Balsamic glaze

  • Parmesan

Option 3

  • Fresh mint - chiffonade

  • Candied ginger - minced

  • Coriander

  • Lemon - juice and/or zest

Option 4

  • Cinnamon

  • Pistachios - crushed/chopped

  • Coconut flakes 

  • Honey*

Method

  1. Leaving the rind on, quarter and slice the watermelon into 1/4 - 1/2 inch slices

  2. Top with optional ingredients to taste

  3. Enjoy
