If you’re curious, "Caprese" refers to a simple Italian salad that traditionally consists of fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, basil, olive oil, and salt. The name "Caprese" comes from the island of Capri, an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea near Naples, Italy, where the dish is said to have originated. The salad is often arranged to resemble the colors of the Italian flag—red (tomatoes), white (mozzarella), and green (basil).
