Live Music at the Market This Week!
Kat and the Travelers will be bringing us their own brand of relaxing jazzy, blusey tunes this evening (Thursday the 26th) at the Market. Save a little time to hang out and enjoy them!
Our live music this Saturday ( the 28th) is sponsored by VMRC. Blue Stone Sky - a local acoustic folk group, will be performing a mix of original and cover songs from whimsical to deeply serious. We look forward to this musical treat! http://www.myspace.com/bluestonesky
Gus Bus Comes to the Market!
The Gus Bus will be at the Market on the first and third Saturdays for all of the little people to enjoy a story or two while their big people shop and enjoy the Market atmosphere… Look for Gus in the Alley between 10 and noon.
2nd Saturday Acoustic Jam – September 11!
Join us the 2nd Saturday of every month for a lively acoustic jam from 10:00 to noon. Everyone is welcome to grab your favorite instrument and join in or simply linger for a while and enjoy this wonderful “fresh locally produced” music! If you like to sit while you play it is a good idea to bring your own chair or stool.

* Entries will Limited to the first 20 participants per category
* Participants must submit 2 items per entry
(i.e. 2 containers of salsa, 2 loaves of bread, etc.) as items will be judged on presentation & taste!

Governor McDonnell has officially recognized August 1 – 7, 2010 as Farmers Market Week in Virginia. We are planning a variety of special events to celebrate…
Thursday, August 5th:
The Local Chop and Grill House will be treating customers to a live cooking demo complete with tasting!
Saturday, August 7th:
Transportation to the Market from the Parking Deck by Classic Carriage rides!
Reading of The Governor’s Proclamation by Harrisonburg Mayor, Kai Degner 12:00 noon
Live Bluegrass music by Blue Rose, 10 a.m. to noon
FOR THE KIDS:
Experience what farmers do! Plant a seed… The Harrisonburg Children’s Museum will be providing a hands on experience for all of the young and young at heart from 10 to 11:30. Small pots will be available for decorating and then planting a seed in for your very own locally grown flower or plant to take home and enjoy.
The Medieval Fantasies Company will be bringing their particular brand of fun for everyone including face painting and some other special activities…

VMRC Power Foods Partnership
We are excited about our Power Foods partnership with VMRC We will be kicking off the Market part with a guided walking tour of the Market Saturday, the 24th. The tour will begin at the central entrance at 10:30. Anyone interested in an in depth view of the Market with a bit of “inside scoop” is welcome to join us.
