Tuesday, January 17: Head out to the Mockingbird Restaurant in Staunton for a FREE screening of Food Stamped. This event is co-sponsored by Transition Staunton Augusta and the Spencer Center for Civic and Global Engagement (Mary Baldwin). The film chronicles the experience of a couple that try to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet while living off of food stamps only, for one year. It reveals the challenges of food, health, and poverty in the United States. Following the film there will be a group discussion with some local speakers including some who have experience living on food stamps, and others who are working locally to address food-related consequences of poverty. There will be a discussion following the film, including our Assistant Manager, Justin Van Kleeck. Find out more info about the event here.
